Shepherd's Pie

Shepherd's Pie is a simple and comforting dish in Fall and Winter. A bed of ground beef covered with delicious cheesy mashed potatoes.

Equipment

  • For an oven dish 15-inch x 10-inch

Ingredients

For the meat

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 shallot minced
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbsp green onion
  • 600 g ground beef
  • Salt to taste

For the mashed potatoes

  • 4 cups boiled potatoes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 to 2 cup(s) grated cheddar

Instructions

For the meat

  • In a hot pan, pour the olive oil, the shallot, garlic and onion. Let it become golden. Add the ground beef and crumble it as it cooks until there is no more pink. Salt to taste.
  • Set aside.

For the mashed potatoes

  • In a bowl, put the warm boiled potatoes, the milk and the butter. Mash with a potato masher. Add salt to taste.
  • In an oven dish, make a layer with half of the mashed potatoes. Make another layer with the ground beef and finally cover with the rest of the mashed potatoes.
  • Spread the grated cheddar on top.
  • Place in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 375F or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Portions: 6 to 8 portions.
