    • 📖 Cinnamon Puff Pastry Twists

A flaky buttery puff pastry with a delicious cinnamon sugar drizzled with some icing gets you the perfect Cinnamon Puff Pastry Twists in just a few minutes! Don't you love an easy and quick recipe with ingredients from your freezer and pantry? Such a crowd-pleaser and a great tasty treat to put together in a pinch. I always have some puff pastry in the freezer and you should too!

You know how much I love a nice treat with my coffee like a nice madeleine, a decadent chocolate truffle, or these yummy puff pastry cinnamon twists! I always have puff pastry in my freezer for occasions like this or even for a quick dinner like my salmon and spinach bake.

The steps are really simple and if you have kids that like baking with you, this could be a great opportunity to involve them.

📖 Why This Recipe Is So Amazing

    • 4 ingredients: Chances are you already have all of them in-house.
    • So quick! Granted, it is quick once your puff pastry is unfrozen.
    • De-li-cious! I don't know a single soul that would not enjoy these treats!
    • It's an activity: If your kids like to bake, this is a great one for them.

🔪 How To Make These Twists

First things first, you need to take your puff pastry dough out of the freezer and let it thaw out for a couple of hours on the counter or overnight in the fridge. You can't work with a frozen puff. You will know it's ready and unfrozen by touching it, it should feel soft. Pre-heat the oven to 400F.

Then, unroll one pastry sheet on parchment paper. In a small ramekin, melt the butter (a few seconds in the microwave will suffice), and using a baking brush, brush the butter on all the dough.

Next, in a bowl, mix the sugar and the cinnamon, sprinkle generously the sugar mixture on the puff pastry. You can now unroll the 2nd pastry and place it on top of the other one covering the cinnamon sugar.

Now, using a pizza cutter or a knife, cut into strips about half an inch thick. Twist each strip and place them on a lined baking sheet. Place in the oven and bake for 13 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

In the meantime, in a small bowl, combine some icing sugar and a couple of tablespoons of milk, stir well until combined. This is your icing to drizzle on your sugar twists!

    💭 Baking FAQ

How do you store these cinnamon puff pastry twists?

Once completely cooled down, you can keep them in an air-tight container for 48 to 72 hours. Although, you might not have leftovers!

Could I use homemade puff pastry for this recipe?

Absolutely! I use frozen puff pastry because it is a great way to make a quick tasty treat in no time! Christina from Dessert for Two has a great 15-minute recipe to make your own from scratch at home.

What temperature do you bake puff pastry at?

I recommend 400F, a high temperature favours the puffing of the pastry and you obtain an even baking (inside out).

I forgot my puff pastry on the counter and it is too soft now, what can I do?

It has happened to me too! Put it in the fridge for 30 minutes or more, use a little bit of flour to dust the surface if it is still a little soft.

Do you put the left over puff pastry back in freezer or do you use it all.

Hi Doris, No I would recommend using up all the puff pastry.
You can not put it back in the freezer.

What a great idea. I always make these with different seeds but adding a sweet cinnamony twist is brilliant. I'm making this for sure.
